R&C Store — Site Audit — Quantised
R&C Store — Site Audit
Summary
x-default and en hreflang point to de.randcstore.com; Italy and Spain have no market alternates; 1,294 of 1,294 product images have no alt text; homepage H1 is the logo, twice.
Mobile LCP 7,900 ms (lab, median of 3) against a 2,500 ms ceiling; desktop is 1,336 ms and TTFB is 15 ms, so the weight is front-end. No Chrome field data — too little real traffic to measure.
Not in the top 20 for any of four category terms tested; #9 for its own Sanatur spirulina range behind Amazon and two resellers; brand name shared with four unrelated businesses on page one.
Product pages are well built — schema, delivery, returns and reviews on all seven sampled — and policies and payment coverage are complete. No aggregateRating in schema; no certification trust strip.
Title tag and meta description introduce the site as Naturea; 169 collections for ~400 products with empty ones live; locale variants missing meta descriptions.
Critical — fix before anything else
- 🔴International setup points search engines at the wrong site: x-default and the generic en alternate resolve to de.randcstore.com, Italy and Spain have no market alternates despite being shipping destinations, and Russian and Chinese variants exist for markets not served.
- 🔴Every product image is missing alt text — 1,294 of 1,294 across the first 250 products in the storefront feed.
- 🔴Mobile Largest Contentful Paint is 7,900 ms (lab, median of three runs) against a 2,500 ms ceiling; desktop is 1,336 ms, so this is front-end weight, not hosting.
High priority
- 🟠The homepage title tag reads 'Natural Cosmetics | Organic Skincare Products | Naturea – R and C store' and the meta description opens 'Discover … at Naturea' — the store introduces itself under a different name and never mentions supplements.
- 🟠'R&C Store' ranks #1 for its exact name but shares page one with a Facebook clothing brand, a granola listing, a t-shirt shop and a cleaning kit; the Business Profile Google shows for the query belongs to a Hull tool shop.
- 🟠Not in the top 20 for 'organic spirulina tablets', 'bio chlorella powder' or 'natural supplements online EU'; #9 for 'Sanatur spirulina' behind violey.com, microbiohealth.co.uk and amazon.de.
- 🟠The homepage has two H1 elements and both are the logo (desktop and mobile header) — there is no descriptive heading on the page.
- 🟠Sessions jumped from ~150–190/day to 687 and 835 on 15–16 September; all of the excess is direct, Singapore, desktop traffic hitting 465 product URLs for 2–4 seconds each — a crawler, and the likely cause of the Search Console 5xx alert.
Medium priority
- 🟡169 collections for ~400 products (2.4 per collection); of 20 sampled, two are empty — including a test collection called 'adds e-mai 10' — and nav entries Hair/Hair Care and Deodorant/Deodorants point to the same collections.
- 🟡Judge.me and Product schema are present on all seven sampled product pages, but aggregateRating is on none — no star ratings reach Google results.
- 🟡Ten of 20 crawled pages (Greek and Spanish variants) have no meta description and seven have titles under 30 characters.
- 🟡Around 130–150 of ~180 daily sessions are 'direct' — implausibly high for a store running Google Ads, Omnisend and a Shop-app storefront; untagged Shop app, Amazon-insert or QR traffic is the likely source.
What's working
- ✅Product pages are properly built: Product and Offer schema, delivery and returns on the page, review widget, descriptions of 65–348 words — only one of 250 products is under 50 words.
- ✅Zero broken links and zero redirect chains across 150 internal URLs checked.
- ✅Cloudflare delivering 15–18 ms time-to-first-byte on mobile and desktop — network delivery is not the speed problem.
- ✅Full payment coverage: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, Maestro, Shop Pay, Union Pay.
- ✅Policies are substantive — terms (3,610 words), privacy (3,012), refunds (1,029) — and the €60 free-shipping threshold is on every page.
- ✅The measurement stack is already installed: GA4, Microsoft Clarity, Omnisend (tagged correctly), Parcel Panel. Nothing to install, only to configure.
- ✅Google Ads traffic since ~9 September shows 0% bounce and 10–130 second sessions — the campaign is bringing real, engaged visitors.
- ✅Ranks #1 for the exact brand name — indexed, and the brand result is clean.
Prioritised action plan
- ▸🔴 Reconfigure Shopify Markets: six real markets (DE, FR, GB, IT, ES, CH), only the languages needed, x-default pointing to randcstore.com
- ▸🔴 Bulk-add alt text to all 1,294 product images via CSV export and re-import
- ▸🔴 Cut mobile LCP from 7.9 s — hero image weight and format, pre-content app scripts first
- ▸🟠 Rewrite the homepage title and meta description around R&C Store, supplements and cosmetics, and the lead brands
- ▸🟠 Fix the theme header so the logo is not an H1; add one descriptive homepage H1
- ▸🟠 Enable bot protection in Shopify and Cloudflare; add a GA4 segment excluding the Singapore crawler
- ▸🟠 Re-run keyword visibility from German and French vantage points
- ▸🟡 Delete /collections/add-spa, merge duplicate nav entries, consolidate empty collections
- ▸🟡 Confirm the Judge.me review count and why aggregateRating is absent from Product schema
- ▸🟡 Add UTM tagging to Shop-app, Amazon-insert and QR traffic so 'direct' shrinks to what it really is
Next steps
This is a pro bono onboarding audit for a friend's business. The suggested sequence — Markets and hreflang, then alt text and titles, then a clean-data traffic review — is what Dan will work through with Alex over the coming weeks.
- Markets and hreflang first — the widest blast radius, and configuration rather than development
- Alt text and title tags the same week — bulk, mechanical, an afternoon's work
- Then a proper traffic review on clean data: bot traffic excluded, direct traffic tagged, German and French rankings measured
